According to The Economist, Python is surging toward the title of the world’s most popular programming language. That matters because the more popular a coding language is, the more employers start using it as their language of choice — and that means knowing how to use Python gets you hired (particularly important if you’re looking to recession-proof your skillset).

This is the single, biggest reason why many programmers are learning Python. I know many of my friends who are bored with their Java programming and C/C++ are learning Python to make a career in Data Science due to exciting work and high pay.
But, what makes Python a preferred language for Data Science and Machine Learning? Didn’t R was considered best for that not too long ago? Well, I think the libraries and framework Python offers e.g. PyBrain, NumPy and PyMySQL on AI, DataScience, and Machine learning are one of that reason.
Another reason is diversity, Python experience allows you to do a lot more than R e.g. you can create scripts to automate stuff, go into web development and so much more.
2. Machine Learning
This is another reason of why programmers are learning Python in 2018. The growth of machine learning is phenomenal in last a couple of years and it’s rapidly changing everything around us.
Algorithms become sophisticated day by day, the best example is Google’s Search Algorithms, which can now answer what you are expecting. There are Chatbots around to answer your queries and Uber is totally driven by Algorithms.
If you are interested in machine learning, want to do a pet project or just want to play around, Python is the only major programming language which makes it easy.
Though there are machine learning libraries available in Java, you will find more content around Python as developer community is preferring Python over anything else on Data Science and Machine learning.
3. Web Development
The task which takes hours in PHP can be completed in minutes on Python. Python is also used a lot for web scrapping. Some of the popular websites on the Internet like Reddit is built using Python.

Python has a diverse range of options for GUI frameworks. … All these GUI frameworks are easy to use and popular, some of them even being open-source.
So what are some of the best ways to prove your ability to write code?
Quite simply, you should be focused on learning code and writing it. In other words, you must actually become a Python programmer — someone who can legitimately read and write Python code. After all, that is what employers will care most about. As you are learning, you should be making many programs because one of the best ways to learn Python after you have a good understanding of the fundamentals is to start making programs. Think of something that you want to create, and when you get stuck on something, research it.
A combination of tutorials and hands-on learning is probably the best way to learn Python for most people. After a lot of practice, you will eventually be able to write code without having to reference how to do things as much. That is a good time to start building a portfolio of source code to show employers. It is a good idea to upload some of this code on public sites such as GitHub so that you can link to your profile in your job applications. You should include your first and last name in the comments of your code so that it is clear that you are not linking to someone else’s work. You can also start a blog or Youtube channel that publishes content that clearly shows your abilities. Only show the code that you are very proud of.
It is up to you to prove your abilities.
Self-motivated people will likely find college much less useful than someone that needs someone to direct them to accomplish tasks. The reason for that is simple: College gives you structured plan that you must follow, and if you do not follow it, there are meaningful consequences. When it comes to self-learning, however, there usually is no structured plan, and if you do not follow through with learning, the consequences are not as apparent.
